Foil tape inside is a red sealing tape which is used to seal wooden doors on their interior side. The tape is made by combining foil and fleece, which provide a barrier to cold draughts and humidity. This is important because humidity inside the room is often higher than on the outside. If there is no sufficient ventilation, the vapour escapes through the joints, thus damaging the polyurethane foam which seals the joint. By using foil tape inside, you can extend the life of the foam and wooden doors. Foil tape inside can be of different width. It can be used in both renovation and new buildings.
Joint sealing tape is an expanding tape which is used to seal the joints of wooden doors. Joint sealing tape is self-adhesive and easy to use. It is usually pasted on the outside of the wooden door, all around the perimeter. Joint sealing tape protects against rain, cold draughts and sudden changes in temperature. Joint sealing tape is obligatory when wooden doors are installed outside the aperture (when wooden doors are protruding into the outside).
Foil tape outside is a white sealing tape which is used on the exterior side of wooden doors. It is pasted on the wooden door joint and protects the expanding foam and the joint itself from water. Foil tape outside is unique in that being watertight, it is permeable to air and vapour, so any vapour that appear on the inside of the joint is free to diffuse into the outside. Until recently, spacer bars were made almost exclusively of aluminium. However, aluminium is a metal and therefore a very poor heat insulator. In cold months the temperature in the centre of such glazing unit is very different from the temperature in the corners (it is colder near the spacer bars). This causes condensation on the door glass, as well as a drop in temperature in the room. In order to prevent this, alternative spacer bars have been designed. Warm edge spacer bars for wooden door glazing units are usually made of structural foam, polymers or glass fibre.
