How to Measure Garage Doors

Garage doors can be measured following the instruction below. For best results, consult a specialist.
1. Measure the height of garage doors. This equals to the height of the garage door opening, from the floor to the lintel. Measure in several places for accuracy.
2. Measure the width of garage doors. This equals to the width of the garage door opening, from brickwork to brickwork. Measure in several places for accuracy.

In order to calculate the price of garage doors, enter these two measurements (1 and 2) into the price calculator. Later you will need other measurements as well.

3. Measure the height of the lintel above the garage door. This is the distance from the top of the garage door opening to the ceiling. If your lintel is 400 mm to 600 mm high, this is the standard size and no adjustment is needed. When the lintel is lower or higher than standard, garage door construction has to be adjusted in order to fit the lintel.
4. Measure the sideroom on the left and right side of garage doors. This is the distance from the garage door opening to the wall. Measure both sides separately. It is recommended that each side is at least 120 mm wide.
5. Measure the ceiling depth. This is the distance from the garage door opening to the back wall of the garage. If there are any obstructions on the ceiling, measure up to those obstructions.
It is advisable to examine the state of garage walls and ceiling before placing an order. If necessary, renovations should be carried out. The wall around the garage door opening must be smooth and undamaged, because this is where the tracks of garage doors will be installed. Garage door opening should be a square. Pay attention to the floor above the garage door: it should be smooth and even, because otherwise there may be gaps when garage door is closed. This can also affect the durability and service life of the garage door. The ceiling should be without obstructions, to make it possible to fit the electric motor and to connect electricity for electric control.
